"I'm keeping my baby, but I'm not keeping my boyfriend"
Here are a few selected reports from recent
LifeSavers ministry activities:
"Toni," 19, called LifeSavers wanting to find
out where she could abort her baby. Terri*
encouraged her to let her baby live, and invited
her to come to the LifeHouse the next day to watch a
video about abortion.
Toni missed her appointment at the LifeHouse,
but she later called to apologize for not coming.
Toni's 16-year-old boyfriend was also on the phone,
seeking to persuade Toni to abort the baby. Terri
reprimanded him for his irresponsibility.
Over the following two weeks, Terri had several
more conversations with Toni. Eventually, Toni said
"I'm keeping my baby, but I'm not keeping my
boyfriend." Terri applauded her decision.
Toni's 18-year-old cousin "Towanda" also spoke
to Terri on the phone, because she thought she too
might be pregnant. "You are so comforting. I like
talking to you," Towanda told Terri. "You're easier to
talk to than my mom." Toni and Towanda attend a
local Missionary Baptist church.
"Shelly," 30, came by the LifeHouse to show
Terri her 6-month old baby girl. Shelly had
been at the abortion chamber last year with her
boyfriend, but they were persuaded to come over to
the LifeHouse to see the abortion video. After
viewing the awful truth of the choice they had made,
both Shelly and her boyfriend decided to "choose life"
instead.
Shelly's baby girl was born at 27 weeks, weighing
less than 2 pounds! But now she is a beautiful healthy
baby. Shelly and her boyfriend are now married and
very active in their Baptist church. They give God the
credit for working a wonderful miracle in their life!
While they were at the LifeHouse, they thought
that Shelly should take a pregnancy test, and they
rejoiced to discover that they are having another
blessing. Terri gave them baby clothes for their little
girl and a gift for their new unborn baby.
"Ilene," a Christian 16-year-old, scheduled an
abortion for her 7 week baby, bringing her
friend "Adella" along for the abortion
appointment. As Ilene and Adella approached the
abortion chamber, Terri and Debbie* offered help
from the sidewalk. Ilene said that she didn't want her
parents to know that she was pregnant; she was
concerned about their reaction because she already had
a 5-month-old infant.
Terri tried to get her to come across the street to watch
the abortion video, but she was concerned about being late
for her appointment, so she hurried inside. Terri and Debbie
asked Adella to bring a baby gift up to Ilene, then Terri and
Debbie agreed in prayer, asking God to bring Ilene out of
the killing center.
A couple of minutes later, Ilene and Adella came out.
Ilene asked, "Were you guys praying for me? They had to
cancel my appointment!" She had already eaten, which is
not permitted before an abortion.
Ilene was now very interested in seeing the video. She
commented that her mom was upset with the news of her
first baby, but she loves the baby "a bunch" now.
Later that day, Adella told Terri that everybody in
Ilene's family had heard the news about Ilene's new baby.
"Becky," 16, came with her mom to the LifeHouse
for a pregnancy test. They are believers, and have
attended a local "community church" for all of
Becky's life. Becky wanted to keep the baby, but her mom
was leaning toward abortion because of the situation. After
watching the video, both agreed that "there's no way" they
would consider abortion. A few days later, Terri called and
spoke to Becky's grandmother, who also spoke against
abortion, saying "it's my blood." Later, Becky confirmed
her decision, happily telling Terri "I'm keeping the baby!"

Scripture
Focus:
1 Kings 18:17-21
Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that
Ahab said to him, "Is that you, O troubler of Israel?"
And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you
and your father's house have, in that you have
forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have
followed the Baals. Now therefore, send and gather
all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred
and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred
prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and
gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel.
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How
long will you falter between two opinions? If the
Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him."
But the people answered him not a word.
Ask God to use you today to help His people
choose between serving the One True God or serving
the Baals of today, even though people may see you
as a "troubler" of God's people.
Prayer
Focus
-
Father, guard the lips of every person involved
in ministry on the sidewalks and the LifeHouse today,
so that they will speak only what comes from You.
-
Continue to use the 75 white crosses outside
the LifeHouse to touch the hearts of women who are
considering abortion, motivating them to turn away
from their death wish (or to repent of their abortion
decision if it is too late).
-
Jesus, please protect the health of women who
have recently chosen life for their babies but have
been experiencing symptoms of miscarriage. Help
them to trust in You during this difficult time.
-
Please send us more workers for the harvest
field, and let them have teachable hearts, that we
may impart to them the vision for what You want to
do through us. Help us all to surrender our own ideas
to You, so that You will truly be our Leader.
-
Touch the hearts of more Christians and
church leaders in our community, so that they will see
the need to start "Elizabeth League" groups to help
pregnant women.
SPECIAL THANKS
Pastor Troy Morris of New Beginnings Christian
Church has provided the LifeHouse with a generous
supply of diapers and baby carriers. We look forward
to having the opportunity to bless many women and
children with these items.
MINISTRY SCHEDULE
We currently focus our ministry time on Mondays and
Tuesdays from approximately 7 am to 5 pm. (These are the
local abortion days.) Please call us at 323-2229 to get
involved.
