Doctor refuses to provide abortion authorization
At least one baby was saved last week in Bakersfield through the
ministry of "pregnancy evangelists" on the sidewalks outside the Family
Planning Associates abortion chamber. Abortionist Kenneth
Wright once again committed abortions on Monday and Tuesday.
Here are a few selected reports from last week's
ministry activities:
"Kathie," 21, called LifeSavers by accident on Thursday, apparently intending
to call FPA. Kathie told Terri* that FPA would not allow her to
have an abortion unless she had a note from her doctor, because she has
seizures and asthma. However, her doctor refused to give her the note.
Terri told her that FPA is not equipped to handle women with problems like
asthma, and that sometimes such women have been taken away from the abortion
chamber in an ambulance.
Terri invited Kathie to come to the LifeHouse on Friday to see a video about
abortion. After seeing the video, Terri talked with her for close to an
hour. Kathie is a Christian, and attends a local Missionary Baptist church.
She has three children, and is engaged. Her fiance doesn't want her to
abort, but she wants to go to college to better herself for her children,
so that she can financially contribute to her family.
"I've been praying alot about this for the last few weeks," Kathie said.
"I know it's wrong, but I have no other choice."
Tears rolled down Kathie's cheeks several times during her conversation with
Terri. "It's no accident that you ended up calling here instead of
across the street," Terri said. "God is trying to speak to you. Please
listen! He wants your baby to live."
Terri prayed with her, and Kathie said she will come back to the
LifeHouse on Monday (today) after she thinks about things. As of Monday
morning, Kathie was still intending to abort.
"Andrea," 40, came with her husband from their small town to
Bakersfield on Monday, intending to abort their baby. They slowly drove up
to the abortion chamber, and started to park their car; then they drove away.
Later they returned and
parked across the street. When she walked by, Colleen (an independent
volunteer) started to talk to her, but Andrea said "do you
speak Spanish?" So Terri walked over and
said "embarazado? aborto?" and Andrea replied "yes."
Andrea said the reason for the abortion was "gasses." She spoke broken
English. Terri was able to get her to come to the LifeHouse,
where she showed Andrea a video about abortion.
Andrea told Terri that Clinica Sierra Vista referred her for the
abortion, and that they told her the baby was not formed, just smaller
than a thumb, with no working parts, until 13 weeks, and she said she
was only 9 weeks along. She's on prescription medications for her "gasses,"
because part of her stomach doesn't close.
Andrea said that she was a Christian and told Terri "maybe God used
you to talk to me and pray for me so I won't have my stomach problems."
Terri said "a baby is worth some suffering; just think how
much suffering Jesus went through for us."
Terri gave Andrea literature about fetal development and the risks of
abortion, and a Spanish "Hope for the Future" Bible.
"DeAnn," 18, came to the LifeHouse on Monday for a pregnancy test. The
results were negative, but DeAnn was disappointed. DeAnn lives with her boyfriend,
and they are both Christians, but DeAnn said she wants to be pregnant. Terri
encouraged her to wait until she is married.
"Michaela," 15, came to the LifeHouse on Thursday for a pregnancy test, which
was negative. Even
though she gave birth to a baby just two months ago, she thought she might
be pregnant. Terri gave her abstinence literature, and Beth (a Fresno
sidewalk counselor who had stopped by to help) talked with Michaela about
waiting for marriage.
Scripture Focus
: Jeremiah 22:13-17
"Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness,
his upper rooms by injustice,
making his countrymen work for nothing,
not paying them for their labor.
He says, 'I will build myself a great palace
with spacious upper rooms.'
So he makes large windows in it,
panels it with cedar
and decorates it in red.
"Does it make you a king
to have more and more cedar?
Did not your father have food and drink?
He did what was right and just,
so all went well with him.
He defended the cause of the poor and needy,
and so all went well.
Is that not what it means to know me?"
declares the Lord.
"But your eyes and your heart
are set only on dishonest gain,
on shedding innocent blood
and on oppression and extortion."
Pray that those who gain financially from the
shedding of innocent blood will come to truly
"know" the Lord, or that they will soon receive
just punishment from God. Ask God to help you to
defend the unborn with all your heart, and to
help you refrain from idle conversation.
Prayer
Focus
- Ask God to protect and guide every LifeSavers team member and volunteer
today, so that they can be more effective in their ministry efforts.
-
Ask God to help "Kathie" (see report above) to draw closer to Him,
and to submit to His will for her life and her baby's life.
-
Pray that God will heal and strengthen "Andrea" (see report above).
-
Pray that abortionist Kenneth Wright will surrender to
God. Ask God to bring situations into Wright's life in the
days ahead which will force him to go to his knees.
-
Pray for Debbie Williams, who has been a participant in LifeSavers
ministry activities for years. Ask God to help her to have wisdom in dealing
with some very significant decisions she will be making in the coming days.
Congratulations to:
