Field of crosses grows as aborted babies' blood flows

One by one, as tiny children were aborted at Bakersfield's "Family Planning Associates" abortion chamber last week, white crosses were placed on the lawn of the LifeHouse pregnancy help center across the street in memory of each child who had just been violently destroyed. Before abortionist Kenneth

Amy Palmquist* adds another cross to the memorial as another woman leaves after aborting her child.

Wright finally left late Tuesday afternoon, he looked out over the 64 white crosses and waved, as a mocking gesture of honor to his innocent victims. But at least 11 of Wright's intended victims (and possibly as many as 18 or more) were still alive, as God spoke to the hearts of their mothers through the ministries of Christians on the sidewalks and at the LifeHouse. Here are some of the accounts of how God touched lives last week:

Abortion seemed like the only option for "Mirabel" after she and her boyfriend had a big fight. Mirabel asked her father to drive her to a "doctor's appointment" without telling him that the appointment was for abortion.

As Mirabel and her father parked at the abortion chamber, Maria offered literature to them and brought them to the LifeHouse to watch a video about abortion.

Mirabel was shocked when she saw how developed her 10 week baby was. After watching the video, both Mirabel and her father were horrified by abortion and determined not to allow the child to be aborted.

As Mirabel and her father left the LifeHouse, they noticed "Magdalena" standing in the FPA abortion chamber's parking lot. Magdalena's friends were trying to convince her not to abort her baby.

Mirabel and her father joined in the discussion, pleading with Magdalena not to abort her baby. After several minutes, Magdalena abruptly fled from the group of people who were trying to help her, running up the stairs into the abortion chamber's waiting room.

Mirabel and her father, upset over Magdalena's decision, sat in their car hoping that Magdalena would change her mind. When Magdalena came back down the stairs and left, Mirabel and her father drove away, thankful that Magdalena's child was still alive.

When "Esperanza" told her doctor that she was pregnant, her doctor said that she would lose her workman's compensation. Although Esperanza attends a local Catholic church, she didn't see any way to avoid abortion.

Outside the abortion chamber, Terri* and Alicia* talked to Esperanza and provided her with literature about abortion and fetal development. Esperanza decided not to abort her child that day.

A few days later, she consulted with a lawyer who assured her that her doctor was wrong to tell her that pregnancy would cause her to lose her workman's compensation.

When Esperanza found out that a friend of hers also intended to abort her baby, Esperanza shared with the friend the literature Terri had given her outside the abortion chamber. The friend decided against abortion. "I saved another baby," Esperanza happily told Alicia a few days later.

After struggling with numerous forms of satanic oppression including drug addiction, "Shandi" recently found victory -- with help from the Missionary Baptist church she attends. She was scheduled to be baptized last Sunday to celebrate her new life in Christ, but then she found out that she was pregnant.

Shandi felt that experiencing an unplanned pregnancy during this time in her life would be a setback, so she informed the church that she would need to delay her baptism, and she scheduled an abortion to destroy the new life God had given her.

After the abortion, as the rain fell down from heaven like God's tears, Shandi's eyes were opened and she recognized her sin. Filled with grief, Shandi left the killing center, as Terri stood on the sidewalk holding a cross to honor the brief life of Shandi's baby. "Call my baby 'Rain,'" Shandi lamented to Terri, "because I'll never do this again."

Terri hugged Shandi as they prayed together for God's forgiveness.

Scripture Focus: Psalm 51:10-17

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart--
These, O God, You will not despise.

Ask God to break your heart for the volumes of innocent blood shed in our community and nation, anticipating deliverance from bloodguilt through the innocent blood of Jesus Christ.
