Epileptic woman has seizure after abortion
(and other ministry reports)
Last week seemed to be the week for
negative
pregnancy tests at the LifeHouse. However, even negative
pregnancy tests present significant ministry opportunities.
Here are a few selected reports from last week's ministry
activities:
"Renita," 19, came to the LifeHouse for a pregnancy
test. Just six weeks ago, her baby
was aborted at the
FPA abortion chamber, at her boyfriend's
urging (even
though she knew that it violated her
beliefs as a
Catholic). She talked to Terri in
detail about her
abortion, and how the abortion chamber
staff dealt
with her. Because she has
epilepsy, the FPA staff had
originally told her that she would need
a doctor's
referral. Renita asked two of her
two doctors, but
neither would agree to write a
referral. When she
went back to the abortion chamber, they
told her that
they would allow her to have an abortion
without the
referral. They took some blood,
then they brought her
to the ultrasound room and checked her
uterus (but
they didn't do an ultrasound).
Then they brought
Renita into the tile-floored abortion
room, where she
was put into stirrups which hung from
the ceiling.
After the abortion, she had a seizure,
so her arms were
tied down. When she was in the
recovery room, she
cried about the loss of her baby.
The abortionist came
in several times and told her she needed
to calm down.
She was in the abortion chamber building
for about six
hours. Renita told Terri that if
she were pregnant this
time, she would give birth to the
baby. Her pregnancy
test was negative.
"Mimi," 18, came to the LifeHouse for a pregnancy
test. She is a Christian, and is
engaged to be married
in June. When her pregnancy test
results were
negative, Terri tried to encourage her
to remain
abstinent until her wedding night, but
"Mimi" looked
at Terri as if she were crazy.
"Ingrid," 16, came to the LifeHouse with her 19-year
old boyfriend for a pregnancy
test. She attends a local
Catholic church. Initially she
told Terri that she was
undecided about abortion, but after
seeing the "Harder
Truth" video, she said that she is
now pro-life. After
seeing the negative results of the
pregnancy test, Terri
prayed with Ingrid and her boyfriend,
asking God to
help them to be abstinent. They
told Terri that they
will try.
A young
man spoke to Debbie at length about his
girlfriend, who was inside the abortion
chamber
aborting her baby. He was afraid
that his fiance (who
is in jail for drugs) would find out
about the
pregnancy. A few minutes after the
man left, Terri
noticed that the video camera was
missing. The police
came to take a report, but expressed
doubt regarding
the possibility of locating the young
man or the
camera. (This is the second video
camera which has
been stolen from LifeSavers in a
year.) Along with the
camera, two videotapes were stolen,
including a tape
the Palmquists had been using for
recording family
memories. (Unfortunately, the
shortage of volunteers
makes constant supervision of such
valuable assets
difficult, especially when sidewalk
counselors are
dealing with life-and-death situations.)

Scripture Focus: Psalm 102:1-3, 17-20
Hear my prayer, O Lord;
let my cry for help come to you.
Do not hide your face from me
when I am in distress.
Turn your ear to me;
when I call, answer me quickly.
For my days vanish like smoke;
my bones burn like glowing embers.
...
[The Lord] will respond to the prayer of the destitute;
he will not despise their plea.
Let this be written for a future generation,
that a people not yet created may praise
the Lord:
The Lord looked down from his sanctuary on high,
from heaven he viewed the earth,
to hear the groans of the prisoners
and release those condemned to
death."
[heart] Meditate on the words of this psalm today, praying
on behalf of the babies who are scheduled to die
today, asking God to release those who are
condemned to death.

Prayer Focus
Pray that every sidewalk counselor will be able to
put aside their family concerns and focus upon God
and upon the needs of the women who are seeking
abortions today.
Pray for Christian young women in our community
who are sexually active (see reports above), asking
God to help them to recognize that His will for them
is abstinence until marriage.
Pray that pastors and church leaders will see the
importance of discussing what the Bible says about
sexuality and abortion.
