Mother of six keeps baby and accepts Christ
Here are a few selected reports from
last
week's ministry activities:
"Jacinda,"30, came to the abortion chamber
to abort her sixth baby. She lives
with her
husband and her five other children, but
she
said that her husband is abusive.
Colleen
spoke to her outside the abortion
chamber,
and then brought her to the LifeHouse,
where
Colleen and Terri prayed with her.
Jacinda
decided not to abort the baby. A
few days
later, Colleen brought her to church,
and
Jacinda prayed to accept Jesus.
"Octavia," 18, came to the LifeHouse for a
pregnancy test. (Her 22-year-old
boyfriend
had called early in the morning to ask
Terri
about whether Octavia's symptoms could
indicate that she was pregnant.
Terri invited
him to bring Octavia in for a pregnancy
test.)
Terri showed them the Harder Truth video
while they waited for the test
results. After
seeing the video, Terri asked if they
would
now consider abortion, and they said no.
When Octavia saw that the test results
were
negative, she hugged Terri and
cried. Terri
encouraged her to commit to abstinence
until
marriage, and Octavia agreed, explaining
that
she had already told God that if the
results
were negative, she would stop having
sex.
Octavia told Terri that she sometimes
attends
a local Catholic church. Terri
prayed with
Octavia, asking God to help her to
abstain,
and to help her future husband to remain
pure. Octavia then prayed to
accept the Lord.
Terri asked Octavia if she would like
her to
talk to her boyfriend about abstinence,
and
she said "yes." The
boyfriend was reluctant
to agree to remain abstinent, and he
resisted
Terri's invitation to accept Christ,
explaining
that he doesn't have any religion.
"Shirley," 19, noticed the LifeHouse when
she was driving by on Thursday, and
stopped
for a pregnancy test. She is
pro-life, and said
that if she was pregnant, she would keep
the
baby. When she saw that the test
results were
positive, she started to cry. She
told Terri
that her parents have "no
clue" that she has
been sexually active. Terri
offered to help her
break the news to her parents.
Shirley told
Terri she would call to talk to her
about it.
"Adriana," 21, came to the LifeHouse for a
pregnancy test. She had an
abortion a year
ago, and regrets it. She attends a
local
Pentecostal church. Her sister had
recently
come to the LifeHouse, so Adriana had
heard
about it from her. The test
results were
negative.
Two
18-year-old young men stood on the
other side of H Street on Monday,
heckling
the sidewalk counselors. They had
brought a
friend to the dentist. They yelled
"leave those
women alone! They feel bad enough
as it is!"
Terri showed them a picture of an
aborted
baby, and said "should we make this
any
easier? You should get mad at the
people
who are doing this!" They
told Terri that they
grew up in church, but they have turned
away
from their upbringing, because of being
frustrated with hypocritical
Christians. They
were surprised to hear Terri say that
many
people who go to church may not be going
to
heaven. They said that usually
Christians are
"too good" to talk to them,
and that
Christians usually look down on them,
but
they seemed positively impressed by the
way
Terri spoke to them. Terri told
them that she
doesn't have any problem listening to
them
talk about their honest challenges
against
Christianity-she said she has more of a
problem with those who claim to be
Christians who abort their babies.
By the end
of the conversation, the two young men
told
Terri "keep doing what you're
doing."

Scripture Focus: Romans 8:5-11
Those who live according to the sinful
nature have
their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who
live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on
what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death,
but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the
sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's
law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful
nature cannot please God.
You, however, are controlled not by the
sinful nature
but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And
if
anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not
belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is
dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of
righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus
from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from
the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through
his Spirit, who lives in you.
[Submit your mind to the Spirit of God, and ask
God to help those you speak to today to submit to
God. Ask God to help you focus your mind on him
today, and to help you refrain from idle conversation.]

Prayer Focus
Ask God to open the eyes of the women who are
entering the abortion chamber, so that they will be
able to accept the reality of the child within them.
Ask God to help each sidewalk counselor know
when to speak and when to remain silent.
Pray for Judy DiGiorgio, nurse practitioner in the
abortion chamber. Ask God to help her see as she
looks in the eyes of her own child that every child is
precious.
Pray that "Jacinda" will grow closer to Jesus
(see
report above). Ask God to help her to have wisdom
and courage to respond to her husband's abuse.
Pray that God will protect all of her children.
Pray that God will help "Octavia" to abstain
(see
report above) and that her relationship with Jesus
will grow. Also pray that her boyfriend won't put
pressure on her to have sex and that he too will
accept Jesus as his Savior.

Mobile pregnancy center?
A 1997 moving van is for sale by a local
auto
dealership. Terri Palmquist recently looked at the van,
seeing it as having a great deal of potential for becoming a
mobile pregnancy center, which could be used in various
locations to show pro-life videos and provide free
pregnancy tests. Currently, LifeSavers Ministries has
no
surplus funds, but the ministry potential of this vehicle is
obvious. Please pray that God will guide Terri as she
pursues the possibility of this new ministry tool.
