By now you've no doubt heard the horrible news that the abortion pill
will soon be here. This may be one of the darkest hours in the history of
the pro-life movement, but it is no time to retreat.
For 16 years, LifeSavers Ministries has been promoting "sidewalk
counseling (we prefer to call it "pregnancy evangelism"): speaking God's
truth in love to women entering the abortion chamber, pleading for the
life of their preborn child while offering tangible hope and help to the
woman. Many women surrender to God and repent of their decision to abort
their child (an estimated 1500+ babies have been saved). Others
consider it a nuisance, even a form of harassment, to hear the Good News
preached to helpless preborn children and their mothers. But even our
ministry to those who reject the truth is not in vain, as they are now
solely accountable for what they have heard (Ezekiel 33).
Jesus said that "Men loved darkness rather than light, because their
deeds were evil" (John 3:19). Nothing has changed. Shining the light
of God's truth is uncomfortable because it exposes our sin. So it
is no surprise that a person who has the evil desire to kill their own
child would seek a way to do so "in the dark." This is the primary
motivation behind the abortion pill: to enable women to somehow
bypass the abortion debate, aborting their babies with more "privacy."
It is not a health issue, or even a "choice" issue; it is one more
symptom of people's efforts to escape God's light. And if women's
lives (not to mention babies' lives) must be sacrificed in the process,
this is apparently a price the pro-abortion movement is willing to pay
(for details, see
http://LifeHouse.glorifyJesus.com/help/abortionpill.html).
We cannot sit by idly while God's enemies seek to put our light under
a bushel. We have a small window of opportunity (probably less than a
month) before the abortion pill will actually arrive here. We must take
this opportunity to reach out to local physicians with God's truth. But
we must also be "wise as serpents" about how we go about this. That is why
I believe it is essential that these local doctors first be contacted
by community members (preferably their own patients) who are not
visibly connected with any group. This initial contact must first be a
fact-finding mission, and then (after the facts are in) it will be time for
you to share God's truth.
Please study the abortion pill survey form, which will help you know what to
ask your doctor. It may be embarrassing for you to approach your doctor
about this, but consider the scriptural example of Mordecai's counsel to
Queeen Esther: "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance
for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family
will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for
such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14). You may be the only one in a position
to speak to your doctor about this. Don't let the risk of embarrassment
cause you to abdicate your God-given role in this battle (Proverbs 24:10-12).
Please take some time in the next few weeks to talk to your doctor(s)
about the abortion pill, and then send a report to us using our
on-line
abortion pill survey form. We don't have the resources to personally
talk face-to-face with every doctor, but working together, we can possess
more of this land for Christ, and someday in heaven we will celebrate with
those whose lives were saved as a result.
In Christ's service for those who cannot speak for themselves,
Tim Palmquist, co-chairman
LifeSavers Ministries, Inc.
P.S. If we can ensure that local doctors are not committing abortions,
our "pregnancy evangelists" will be able to reach more women. Would
you be willing to help us by sharing this concern with your friends and
family? If you want more information on the dangers of the abortion
pill, see our "abortion pill" page at
