Are we losing our rights
to proclaim God’s Word in public?
Recent events in Bakersfield seem to indicate that this could be true!
As Terri Palmquist offers help to the women entering the Family Planning Associates abortion center in Downtown Bakersfield, she often reads Bible passages from the public sidewalk. When she recently read a Scripture passage to abortionist Kenneth Wright, he called the police. Now she is being threatened with criminal prosecution, and has been served with a Temporary Restraining Order which prevents her from going within 100 yards of FPA.
A hearing on the Restraining Order will be held on August 13, but in the meantime, will we allow the ministry of God’s Word to be removed from the public sidewalks?
Can God’s Word be silenced?
Pastor Chet Gallagher will be coming to Bakersfield on Sunday night, August 4, 2002, to encourage Christians to take a stand for God’s Word in public. Gallagher is a former police officer, and currently serves as Missions and Outreach Pastor at Evangel Christian Fellowship in San Jose. He conducts "Word in Warfare" seminars across the nation, encouraging Christians to follow the Scriptural challenge to read God’s Word publicly.
