Anointed pastors plead for city to protect life!

God spoke powerfully last night through six pastors (and one non-pastor) at the Bakersfield City Council meeting. The pastors were asking the City Council, including two new members who were just seated last night, to consider the proposed Human Life Ordinance.

Please be praying for each member of the City Council as they consider what God wants them to do.

Below is a preliminary transcript of the pastors’ comments. It may be edited as necessary to more accurately represent the pastors’ comments.

(Some of the pastors mention the seal of the City of Bakersfield, which includes the words “In God We Trust,” although the seal was not visible during this time, being covered by a screen.)

Praise God for precious Miracle

Teresita Herrera holds her little girl

Teresita Herrera at the 40 Days for Life kickoff, helping to hold a banner bearing the message 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.'

Teresita Herrera chose the name Miracle for her little girl who was born on December 7. Miracle has lived up to her name. Several months ago, Teresita was told that her baby would die because she had not developed a skull. But as of this morning, Miracle is still alive and at home with her family, having been released from the hospital over the weekend.

Throughout her pregnancy, Teresita has continued interceding outside Bakersfield’s FPA abortion chamber for the lives of the children who are being killed there, and for their mothers.

Update: After spending several weeks at home with her loving family, Miracle passed away on December 28. Visitation will be January 3 from 4-7 pm at Greenlawn Southwest, Panama Lane at Freeway 99. Friday January 4 at 10 am a Mass for baby Miracle will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 E. California Ave.

Five babies saved on “day 41″

Terri Palmquist counsels an abortion-minded couple at the end of a long day on the sidewalk outside Bakersfield's FPA abortion chamber.

Although our tenth 40 Days for Life campaign ended on Sunday, many vigil participants came back to pray on Monday outside Bakersfield’s FPA abortion chamber. Their prayers continued to bear fruit, as at least five babies were known to be saved (with two from Taft).

At the end of the day, Terri Palmquist spent well over an hour counseling an abortion-minded couple who conceived a child during their brief relationship. They both considered the relationship to be over, and felt that it would not be right to let the child be born without having both a mother and a father. Read more »

Born on the Fourth of July!

Baby saved from abortion born on July 4

This precious little girl, saved from abortion in Bakersfield, was born on July 4.

A few short months ago, the mother of the child pictured here was entering the Family Planning Associates abortion center in Bakersfield, intending to abort her baby. Someone on the sidewalk handed her a card from our AbortionPillBaby.com ministry, and a few weeks later she called asking for help.

New housing opportunities arise for local pregnant women

Terri Palmquist and Esther Boozer of LifeSavers Ministries welcome Lori and her children to the 'Hawaiian Gardens' home.

Many years ago, Terri Palmquist envisioned a new kind of housing ministry for needy pregnant women. Over the past few weeks, doors have begun to open to help bring that vision closer to reality.

While seeking housing arrangements for a client (“Lori,” whose baby was saved during 40 Days for Life), Terri learned that the property she had been hoping to use for housing pregnant women is now available. After working out some logistics with the property owner, Terri began informing some LifeSavers Ministries volunteers of the need. Arrangements were quickly made for property cleanup, repairs, and helping Lori move in. Terri has dubbed the facility “Hawaiian Gardens.” Lori moves in today!

Abortion-free Monday!

Faithful prayer continues outside empty FPA abortion center parking lot. No abortions were committed on Monday, which is typically the primary abortion day of the week.

“I knew you were praying for me”

FPA abortion center's final waiting roomAs Carolyn and Terri interceded outside Bakersfield’s FPA abortion center on Monday, November 7, the day after the end of the Fall 2011 40 Days for Life campaign, they noticed that the blinds had just been opened in the last waiting room upstairs. This is the room where women wait for their names to be called so that they may go downstairs to lay on an abortion table.

Carolyn and Terri decided to recite Deuteronomy 30:19 together: “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Meanwhile, a man holding a sign depicting the Virgin Mary walked up next to them.

Prayer prevails when church fails to save baby

Baptist church

A gateway to life, or a pit stop on the road to death?

On Sunday evening, October 9, knowing that she had scheduled an appointment to end her baby’s life the next day, 23-year-old “Kirsten” was determined to make it to church. Sitting next to Kirsten in the Baptist church their family had attended for many years, Kirsten’s grandmother was thrilled to join her granddaughter in singing praises to God.

A few miles away, two men joined their hearts in prayer outside the locked gates of Bakersfield’s FPA abortion business as a part of their participation in the 40 Days for Life campaign. Realizing that the following day was a likely abortion day, the men turned their prayers to the women who were scheduled for abortions, asking God to break through the hearts of these women during the night.

Celebration reflects the power of prayer

A joyful celebration of the power of prayer was held Saturday at the home of David and Grace Madruga, as they celebrated the finalization of the adoption of their son Joseph Francis Madruga. Dozens of the Madrugas’ family members and friends shared in the festivities, including several 40 Days for Life leaders.
