Although a majority of Bakersfield’s City Council members have stated privately that they oppose the new 30 minute zone outside Bakersfield’s FPA abortion center, any action to reverse these restrictions seems at this point to be unlikely unless there continues to be a significant public outcry.

The primary problem appears to be that Council members tend to defer to the Council member in whose ward a situation exists, which places this parking issue squarely in the lap of Councilwoman Sue Benham, reputedly an advocate of abortion.  Read more »
