St. Gianna’s Maternity Home has provided essential help for LifeSavers Ministries clients, providing a local place for us to send homeless pregnant women. Without this home being open, some of these babies would have undoubtedly been aborted, and their mothers would be experiencing a lifetime of regret. Most of the pregnant women who have been helped by St. Gianna’s have been referred from LifeSavers Ministries.
Now St. Gianna’s Maternity Home is experiencing a crisis. The ministry was already struggling for funds before the unexpected death last month of founder Amanda Fimbres-Baeza. But now the problems have intensified.
To help raise funds to keep the maternity home’s doors open, a 48 hour telethon will be held beginning on Friday, June 5 at 8 am and ending Sunday, June 7 at 8 am. The telethon will be located at the maternity home, 3811 Mt. Vernon Ave. in Bakersfield, featuring all day activities, with music, food, a live concert and a talent show. For more information, call 872-BABY.

The City has no obligation to comply with FPA’s request, but according to City engineer Ryan Starbuck, the City tends to grant the requests of business owners in situations like this, assuming that they know their own parking needs best. President Obama’s speaking engagement at Notre Dame apparently motivated a group of pastors to lead a pro-life rally in San Diego on Sunday. This is a huge development and a major answer to prayer, with very influential pastors such as radio broadcaster David Jeremiah leading this effort. Perhaps God is granting repentance to our nation in our hour of need!
