Unknown abortionist spends many hours killing babies, but one woman turns away

While an unknown abortionist spent an unusally long amount of time killing innocent preborn children last Monday and Tuesday in Bakersfield's Family Planning Associates abortion chamber, LSM "pregnancy evangelists" sought to offer hope and help to the mothers of these babies', so that they would let their children live. Sadly, most of the women rejected God's truth and believed Satan's lie. Here are a few selected reports from last week's ministry activities:

"Meg," 21, was in the FPA abortion mill's back waiting room, just a few minutes from having her 7 week preborn baby killed, when she decided to come out. Meg talked to Terri* and Chuck (an independent volunteer) on the sidewalk, and agreed to come across the street to the LifeHouse pregnancy help center to see a video about abortion. After seeing what happens to her and to the baby in an abortion, Meg said "I don't want to do that."

She is married and has two preschool children, but her husband is in the military, and is stationed in another city. Meg is pregnant from a boyfriend. Meg told Terri that a month ago, her sister was about to abort her baby, but she changed her mind, even though she was already in her surgery gown!

Terri gave Meg some food, along with a Bible and a baby gift, and Meg called a friend to get a ride home.

"Marilynn," 15, came with a friend to the LifeHouse on Monday for a pregnancy test. "They looked like Satanists, all dressed in black," Terri said, "but then she told me that she has gone to a local American Baptist church all of her life." Marilynn's test was negative, so Terri talked to them about abstinence and gave them literature to encourage them to save themselves for marriage.

Prayer Focus
  • Ask God to help "Meg" (see report above) to strengthen her resolve to keep her baby, and pray for her relationship with her husband.

  • Pray for Brian Dunlap, the used-car dealer who owns the LifeHouse building. Dunlap is trying to increase the monthly rent for the LifeHouse to $1500 per month, even though he says that LifeSavers has been a "good tenant" and he knows that LifeSavers has had difficulty making the monthly payments. (The former owner of the LifeHouse, who sold it to Dunlap last year, said that this rent increase is ridiculous.) Ask God to change Dunlap's heart, and to give him a desire to be a better steward of the resources God has given.

Abortion chamber guard arrested for beating pro-life Christian

A guard at one of the nation's most notorious abortion chambers was arrested last week after beating Daniel Michael (a pro-life Christian) over the head with a night stick. Michael's 10-year-old daughter was also assaulted. The incident happened outside the so-called "Hope Clinic for Women" in Granite City, Illinois (near St. Louis).

The "Hope Clinic" is notorious for committing late term abortions, advertising their "services" as far as 500 miles away. The abortionist at "Hope" is also OB/GYN Chief of Staff at the Catholic hospital across the street from the abortion chamber.

Tim and Terri Palmquist of LifeSavers joined the Michael family and many others from around the country for several days outside the "Hope" killing center this summer with Operation Save America.

Judge rejects pro-abortion "buffer zone"

A federal judge last week barred the state of Massachusetts from enforcing a new law that creates buffer zones around abortion chambers to restrict the activities of pro-lifers. The judge ruled that the law is unconstitutional because it targets pro-life individuals without restricting pro-abortion volunteers and employees.

In his ruling, US District Judge Edward Harrington wrote that workers who escort patients into the clinics have "a strong financial interest or philosophic incentive" to counsel women to have abortions and "constitute very zealous advocates for this controversial procedure."

"Prolife advocates who firmly believe that abortion remains a grave moral evil must be given as equal an opportunity as their opponents to express to those seeking an abortion their sincere message of respect for the sanctity of innocent human life. The First Amendment requires no less," Harrington wrote.
