Weekly Ministry Focus
This week's edition of the Weekly Ministry Focus is abbreviated, due to the time we have spent on a very special "labor of love": the birth of our ninth child, Samuel Palmquist.
Television cameras give babies more time to live

Monday (Jan. 22) was the 28th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade abortion decision, so television reporters came to Bakersfield's Family Planning Associates abortion chamber to interview Terri Palmquist, co-chairman of LifeSavers Ministries. Some people who apparently had scheduled abortions left because they saw the cameras, including a man who brought in a very young girl. He said he would come back another day when the cameras weren't there. Another man brought in a woman who wasn't his wife. Abortionist Kenneth Wright committed abortions on Monday and Tuesday (Jan. 23). While many babies died, one baby was apparently saved.

"Earline," 14, and "Lupe," 13, came to the LifeHouse on Tuesday for pregnancy tests. Earline and Lupe have been friends for several years, having both experienced difficulties at home because their mothers have frequently kicked them out of the house so that they can be with their boyfriends.

Both Earline and Lupe initially said that they weren't sure what they would do if they were pregnant. Terri showed them a video about abortion and gave them numerous different pieces of literature about abstinence and abortion. Both of their tests were negative.

Afterwards, Lupe wrote Terri a note about her experience at the LifeHouse: "I realized that I don't want to ever have an abortion.... Thank you for helping me out." They both said they would like Terri to bring them to church.
