Weekly Ministry Focus
Mothers repent of decisions to abort their grandchildren

At least four children were saved from abortion last Tuesday in Bakersfield through the "pregnancy evangelism" ministry on the sidewalks outside the FPA abortion chamber and at the LifeHouse pregnancy help center across the street. The FPA abortion chamber was closed for Labor Day on Monday, but abortionist Kenneth Wright boldy returned again to Bakersfield on Tuesday (September 4), in spite of the recent publication of evidence of injuries women have suffered at Wright's hands. Here are a few selected reports from last week's ministry activities:

"Edythe," 19, and "Shane," 20, were brought from Visalia to the FPA abortion chamber by Shane's mother "Abrianna" to abort their child. They headed into the wrong entrance, giving Terri* more time to approach them from the sidewalk. Terri convinced them to come to the LifeHouse to see a video about abortion.

After they watched the video, Terri gave the couple a baby gift, and continued counseling with the couple for about 20 minutes. Suddenly, Abrianna stood up and told the couple, "let's go!" Edythe and Shane followed her back to the killing center's parking lot.

Terri went back to the sidewalk next to FPA's parking lot, and got down on her knees. While Terri prayed, Edythe and Shane remained in the parking lot, discussing their situation.

Finally, after about 10 minutes, they walked back to their car. Terri asked Abrianna what was happening. "They are keeping their baby," Abrianna said. "We'll bring my grandbaby back to see you after the baby is born."

"Rachelle," 15, was brought by her mother "Savannah" to the FPA abortion center on Tuesday to abort her child. Although Rachelle said she already knew she was pregnant, Terri convinced them to come to the LifeHouse to take another pregnancy test. While they waited for the results, Terri showed them a video about abortion. Terri sensed tension between Rachelle and Savannah; after a time of counseling, Terri discovered that Savannah was the one who had wanted Rachelle to abort the child. As Terri prayed with Rachelle and Savannah, Savannah cried, repenting of her decision to have her grandchild aborted. Rachelle and Savannah left the LifeHouse with a new resolve to work together to protect and nurture this tiny child.

Helen usually comes with a group of people from St. Joseph Church to pray on the sidewalk outside FPA every Monday afternoon. Because Monday was a holiday, Helen came on Tuesday last week. A young woman told Helen that she would not go through with her abortion and would be keeping her baby.

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 2:14-17

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

As you sincerely bring God's message to people today, accept the fact that your act of love to these people and their children will be received by those who are perishing as an act of condemnation.

Prayer Focus
  • Pray that God will continue to protect everyone involved in the "pregnancy evanglism" ministry from Satan's attacks.
  • Ask God to bring new workers into the fields to reap the harvest of lives and souls.
  • Give praise to God for exposing a few of the evil deeds of abortionist Kenneth Wright, and plead with Jesus, the Light of the world, to continue shining His light on Wright and FPA, exposing more of their deeds of darkness.
  • Pray that God will guide Tim and Terri Palmquist as they prepare to speak to a local Hispanic congregation in the next few weeks.

Ominous bill goes to Gov. Davis

SB 780 (the oppressive bill which seeks to intimidate and punish pregnancy evangelists, sidewalk counselors, and other peaceful pro-life street ministries) has passed the California Assembly. Without a significant public outcry, Gov. Davis is expected to sign the bill.
