Bishop father finds courage to save his child
This was a very busy week for LifeSavers Ministries,
with several babies born to clients and LSM leader Terri Palmquist
giving birth to her own child, Esther Rose. Terri began
to go into labor on Monday, but was still able to focus her
day on reaching women outside Bakersfield's FPA abortion
chamber, as abortionist Robert Smith continued inflicting his abuse
and terror on innocent women and children inside.
On Tuesday, Terri's labor became more intense,
so she had to stay inside the LifeHouse pregnancy help
center (across the street from the abortion chamber).
But other Christians ministered on the
sidewalks throughout the day, offering help to pregnant
women, praying with women, and interceding for the children
and their mothers.
Here are some of the ways in which God used Christians
to touch hearts and save lives this week:
Feeling overwhelmed with the responsibilities of
caring for her two small boys, "Catelyn"
decided to abort her third child. Her husband "Sam" said
he would support her whether or not she chose to
abort his child, but he secretly hoped she would keep the child.
Catelyn considered scheduling
an abortion with a doctor in Bishop, the small Eastern Sierra
community where she lives, but the only day the doctor
would have scheduled an abortion was on Sam's birthday.
In addition, Catelyn's doctor made rude comments which
offended her.
So Catelyn and Sam decided to make the long drive to
Bakersfield, leaving early Monday morning. After they
parked at Bakersfield's abortion chamber, Terri* informed
them that they had left their lights on and offered them
some literature. Terri was already feeling like she was
going into labor, but she focused on this couple's situation
anyway.

Terri visited with baby Jocelyn, a Bishop baby saved from abortion,
after last year's
Labor of Love banquet.
We received a note of thanksgiving this week from Jocelyn's mother, who
wrote "I am overjoyed with having Jocelyn in my life, and I thank you very much
for being out on the sidewalks of that evil building. I will never forget you guys."

Terri noticed that the license frame on Sam's car indicated
that they were from Bishop, so she began telling Catelyn
about baby Jocelyn, a Bishop baby who was saved from abortion.
"Even though the circumstances of her pregnancy were difficult,
Jocelyn's mother treasures her now," Terri explained.
"This baby might be your girl," Terri said. But Catelyn responded,
"no, he only has boys."
Sam noticed a photo of an eight week preborn baby in the literature
Terri had given to Catelyn. He kept trying show her the picture,
but Catelyn kept pushing it away, saying "no! no!"
Terri informed Catelyn that women have told her that abortionist
Smith acts like a "pervert" inside the abortion chamber. Other
abortionists have recently been jailed for having inappropriate
sexual contact with their patients. Catelyn responded "Sam will
be there to protect me," but Terri informed her that the
abortion staff would not allow him to stay with her.
Finally, Sam gained enough courage to tell Catelyn "you're not going to do this."
Catelyn put up no resistance, but seemed relieved to be spared
from an abortion experience.
Terri's daughter Amy* brought Catelyn some diapers and a gift
for the baby in her womb. Terri also gave them the toll-free
number for LifeSavers, encouraging them to call. "If you need
help, we'll be glad to drive to Bishop to help you," Terri
reminded them. The couple drove away, although they had not yet
missed their appointment, which was thirty minutes later.
They never returned.
Monday evening, as Terri's labor pains were increasing, Terri
called Catelyn in Bishop. Catelyn thanked Terri for her help,
assuring her that she would now keep her baby, and gave Terri
her wishes for a safe delivery experience.
Over the years, LifeSavers Ministries has had the opportunity to
help save several babies from the Bishop/Mammoth area. Hopefully
the new Traveling Life Center (TLC) project will soon provide more
opportunities to minister to more couples in this area.
"Tawana" walked out of the abortion chamber with tears rolling
down her face. Sitting on the curb next to Terri, she
confessed "I have just done something I will
regret for the rest of my life."
When Tawana found out she was pregnant, she
was told that the baby in her womb was just
a "blob of tissue," not yet developed. She knew
that LifeSavers Ministries could help her through
the pregnancy, but she chose
instead to surrender her body and her baby to
the abortionist's knife.
While waiting for her name to be called, Tawana
kept looking out the window at Terri and the other
Christians on
the sidewalks, telling herself she should go out
and ask for help. "I don't know why I didn't come out,"
she lamented.
After the abortion, Tawana woke up crying.
The abortion staff rudely mocked her tears,
chiding her to "quit whining like a baby."
A few minutes later, Tawana noticed that the abortion
staff member was distracted, so Tawana opened her file,
looking for the ultrasound photograph
of her baby which had been taken moments before
the abortion. Tawana could clearly see the little
arms and legs of her 10 week baby whose body parts were
now in a bloody bucket.
"Those *!@#%* (expletive) liars!" Tawana exclaimed.
Pulling the ultrasound picture out of the file, she
hid it under her clothes. Later she showed the
ultrasound photo to Terri.
As Tawana's ride came to pick her up, Terri hugged
Tawana, wishing there was something she
could have said to save Tawana from the deception
and pain she experienced inside the unscrupulous
abortion mill.
"Please keep coming out here," Tawana encouraged Terri,
explaining that her sister's newborn baby
had been saved from abortion.
"You're the reason she has her baby."
"Yvette," 24, called LifeSavers on Tuesday afternoon wanting an abortion. She explained
that her youngest child is just four months old and she is not ready
to care for another child.
Terri would have usually handled the call, but Terri's contractions were becoming
too intense so Tim* tried to help Yvette.
Tim told Yvette about the Elizabeth League group which exists in Yvette's church to help
pregnant women, but Yvette said she was not interested in receiving help, only an abortion.
Frustrated with the results of the call, Tim thought that Terri or Alicia* (the leader
of LSM's Elizabeth League) would
have been able to get through to Yvette. Yvette's phone number appeared on Caller ID,
but so far Alicia has been unable to reach her.

And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
Thank God for the opportunity He has given you to sow heavenly seed today,
focusing on the fact that some seed will bear fruit rather than
worrying about the seed that fails to grow.

Dear Lord, please protect the health of the children who have been born this week, and
the health of their mothers, and we also ask for your continued protection for the
children in the womb whose lives were saved this week.

Shut the mouth of the accuser, and don't allow his lies to be used against those
who are speaking up for the children.

Soften the heart of "Yvette" so that she will not follow through
with her abortion plans.

Let your will be done regarding the nomination of Samuel Alito for Supreme Court. Let
righteousness prevail over the forces advocating compromise.
Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of
this nation. God, end abortion and send revival to
America.

Will precedent trump principle for Alito?
Many pro-life groups are supporting Samuel Alito's nomination as a Supreme Court
justice, but others suggest that Alito's track record indicates
that he would uphold Roe v. Wade, even though he personally disagrees with the
decision. The key issue in Alito's mind appears to be precedent rather than the
protection of life, and apparently Alito has already shown that he favors upholding
the culture of death precedents rather than
recognizing the unalienable right to life of preborn children.
Jimmy Carter condemns abortions
Former President Jimmy Carter recently
chastised fellow Democrats
for their intolerance
of candidates and nominees who oppose abortion. "I never have felt that any abortion
should be committed. I think each abortion is the result of a series of errors," Carter
said. "I've never been convinced, if you let me inject any Christianity into it, that
Jesus Christ would approve abortion."
Carter was the first president elected after the Roe v. Wade decision, but during
his presidency he stood against efforts to ban abortions or allow states to do so. "I
wonder if Carter has truly had a change of heart or if he just sees a shift in the
political wind," commented Tim Palmquist of LifeSavers Ministries. "But I think the most
significant word he used in his comments was the word 'committed.' Many people--even
some pro-lifers--would have said 'no abortion should be performed,' but
saying 'no abortion should be committed' seems to indicate an understanding that
abortion is (or should be) a crime."
Kern strongly supports 73
Kern County was one of the areas of strongest support for Proposition 73, but
some Proposition 73 supporters stayed home from the polls. The proposition which would
have required parental notification for a minor's abortion
failed because of strong opposition from San Francisco and other Bay Area counties.
